Odds & Ends
"Halloween, 1981," my favorite issue and favorite cover of the much-beloved and sorely-missed Twilight Zone magazine (1981-1989).
Of course, it isn't Halloween without a tip of the ol' witch's hat to Ray Bradbury, in this case a link to a scan of the EC Comics adaptation of "The October Game" here (warning--big-ass, slow-loading graphics)
(original story here)
Online bud T'zilla directs us to the ExtremePumpkins.com website for the wildest, weirdest, wackiest jack-o'-lanterns EVER! Lots of useful carving tips and display ideas (including ridiculously dangerous pyrotechnics!).

Finally, if you're a local (or even if you're not so local), don't forget that Saturday, October 30 is the 6th Annual Richmond (VA) Zombie Walk!
This year the pre-walk meet-up (which is strongly suggested if you're walking and your best picture-taking opportunity if you're documenting--moving zombies don't have time to pose) will take place at 1:00 p. m. in Byrd Park at Boat Lake (that's the one with the big-ass fountain). After instructions and costume prizes, the walk itself will begin around 2:00 p. m. on the sidewalk in front of the Carytown Krogers. More details here.
See ya there!
